Spring Cleaning Tips!
2 Do one room, even one area of one room, at a time to avoid unfinished jobs. The satisfaction of seeing one room sparkle will make the hard work feel like it's worth the effort.
3 When tidying, reduce trips around the house by temporarily depositing items in one spot en route to but not at their final destination.
4 Do two things at once. While laundry is going, scrub the shower stall.
5 Make small repairs. If you're not handy, hire someone.
6 Invest in good rubber or vinyl gloves to protect your skin and nails.
7 Dust before vacuuming or cleaning the floor. Try feather or lambswool dusters, especially extendable ones for reaching above window and door casings and into corners. Household rags are invaluable for jobs requiring a damp cloth – natural fibers work best.
8 Buy mops with a squeeze mechanism (great for vinyl, linoleum or ceramic tile floors) and a decent-size heavy-duty pail – one with a measuring scale helps get soap-to-water ratios correct.
9 Don't stand your brooms on their bristles. It will destroy their shape and diminish their effectiveness. Instead, get a broom holder, like the Magic Holder 5-position broom organizer.
10 Use a Swiffer for light dusting, or your favorite broom or vacuum attachment to clean hardwood floors. Then damp-mop with a mild cleaner such as Murphy Oil Soap.
Happy spring cleaning!!!
I love spring cleaning (cleaning period). Everything seems so fresh! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips.
Happy cleaning! :)
I love to clean...I am weird like that, LOL!
ReplyDeleteBrush on the bristles...#9....who knew?? Thanks for sharing sweetie.
Guess what.....it's almost time to watch King of Queens!!
I actually enjoy cleaning, sometimes i just don't get to as much as i would like! Also a lot of spring cleaning for me is trying to get rid of a lot of stuff that i don't need anymore!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea about the bristles either, good to know!
How can anybody actually enjoy cleaning. I dread almost everything that has anything to do with cleaning. And, now, when the spring cleaning is just around the corner my fears are multiplying. Good thing that my girlfriend, at least, hires Camden carpet cleaning for the carpet cleaning. But, still, the rest of the cleaning gets done by us :(
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun list! I am knee deep in Spring cleaning and have been for what seems like weeks now! So much to do. We've made several trips to the Goodwill already to pass along unwanted and unneeded items like clothes and household goods, etc. Still so much to do!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday!
Such great tips...so need to start my Spring cleaning!!
ReplyDeleteEverybody's so excited about the coming spring and even the cleaning looks nicer when we expect the warm days. I will admit that I count more on professional Cleaning Services but your tips are irreplaceable, too. Regards.
